BIG-hearted Wollescote publican Lee Sargeant is laying on a cracking four-day Easter fundraiser to help a disabled eight-year-old boy.

It will be a jam-packed weekend of fun at the Hare and Hounds in Wynall Lane which is hosting the event to help raise cash to send Halesowen youngster James Wilde, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, on a dream trip to America.

Mum Clare Pugh said he wanted to see the monster trucks in the USA, but the fundraiser will also support Muscular Dystrophy UK and raise awareness about the muscle-wasting condition.

Ms Pugh said she was “overwhelmed” by the support from businesses which have provided raffle prizes including a photo shoot, spa break and 12-volt kiddies ride on a car for a daily draw.

The fun kicks off on Friday April 3 with bouncy castles for the kids during the day and karaoke and games on the evening; and on Saturday April 4 there'll also be a 12-hour charity darts match, free pool and a DJ.

On Easter Sunday (April 5) there'll be pony rides and a petting zoo, an Easter bonnet parade at midday with prizes up for grabs, plus bouncy castles, a barbecue, games, a raffle and nail and face painting between 1pm and 5pm.

The Wollaston Lions will take on the Hare and Hounds Champions in a penalty shoot out at 2pm - and three brave regulars will take part in a sponsored wax from 3pm - and Paul Johnson will be having his beard cut throat shaved by Stourbridge barber Chris Standing.

Another gutsy pubgoer will also be donning hot pants, heels and a derriere implant to take on a tour of pubs in Lye with a collection bucket.

Entertainment will continue into the evening with performances by singers Slim Tim Shilvock (between 5pm and 8pm) and David Lancett Dukes from 8pm. There'll also be a 12-hour DJ set.

On Bank Holiday Monday there'll be a charity car wash on the pub car park, plus a tug-of-war and other fun activities.

Last year people rallied to give the garden at James's High Farm Road home a makeover to give him access and somewhere safe to play.

The finishing touches will be completed later in the spring.
