A STOURBRIDGE man who raped a schoolgirl nearly 18 years ago has been told he is facing jail time.
Simon Davies, of Birchfield Road, Wollescote, carried out the sex attack on the 15-year-old in November 1997.
The 38-year-old pleaded not guilty to raping the girl but was convicted on a unanimous verdict by a jury after they considered the evidence at the end of his trial.
Davies was due to be sentenced by Recorder Nicholas Cartwright at Wolverhampton Crown Court but because of problems relating to his legal representation the case had to be adjourned to a date to
be fixed.
The Recorder again remanded Davies in custody and told him it was “inevitable” he would be looking at time behind bars.
