TWO big-hearted Stourbridge women bravely decided to lose their long locks to show support for a cancer battling pal.

On top of the trauma of discovering she had cancer, 44-year-old Cheryl Cooper was in dreads and fears about losing her long hair as a result of chemotherapy treatment.

But to help her through the tough time and to help raise some cash for charity - kind-hearted close pals Victoria Horton, aged 34, and Kerry Lloyd, aged 36, made the gutsy decision to go bald alongside Cheryl.

The three friends braved the razor and had their locks shaved off at the same time on November 26 at The Miners during a charity night organised by Kelly Horton that has raised more than £2,000 for the Georgina Unit at Russell's Hall Hospital in Dudley.

The trio have also donated their hair to the Little Princess Trust which makes real hair wigs for young cancer patients.

Cheryl, aged 44, who started undergoing chemotherapy in November, said she couldn't have braved having her head shaved without the support of her friends.

She said: "I don't think I could have done it on my own. They're like my sisters - they're absolutely sensational. They help me out every day and they keep me going."

Cheryl, of Murcroft Road, Pedmore, said the charity night - which included a raffle with prizes from borough businesses - "was an absolutely brilliant night" which had given her a real boost.

She said she hopes the money raised can go towards buying a new comfortable chair for cancer patients on the Georgina Unit where she's currently receiving treatment.
