Chairman of the day Wendy Lloyd welcomed all attending with a special welcome to our visitors, at the September meeting. Secretary Liz Mosely prepared the minutes for signing and treasurer Josie Bunn, gave a detailed report to date.

Federation events, given by Ann Birchell, were of the harvest supper on October 9, £9.50 to be paid today Music Moments at Norton on October 31, the carol service on December 14 and St george’s day event on April 24 next year.

The lunch club will meet at the Mount Pleasant, Kingswinford on October 7 and the Christmas meal is booked at the Himley Hotel for December 2.

ladies were asked to volunteer to host the monthly coffee mornings which are always a success.

Barbara taylor gave details of theatre outings; Guys and Dolls at the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster with a matinee, November 19 and Oliver at Brierley Hill Civic Hall later in the year.

Arrangements are in hand for a visit to Boundary Mills on October 30, £10 to pay at October meeting.

The Guild will arrange a chocolate prize every time tombola at the community centre Christmas bazaar on December 7.

Contributions are needed.

Wendy then introduced Linda Kettle who said how delighted she is to be on “home territory again”

having been born in Rowley Regis.

Linda gained O level in craft and theatre set design, attedned Foley College at Stourbridge Art College doing A level art and them Birmingham School of Theatre Design. Moving to London, Linda gained further experience in designing dress and wigs for period dramas for stage and tv meeting many well known stars including Sean Connery. Linda worked at Pebble Mill designing and creating sets and back-ground scenery for 30 years. Her work on Pot Black led her to meeting all the snooker stars. James herriot’s All creatures great and small, was one of her favourite involvements.

Linda had brought along models of some of the sets she had designed also many photographs of the programmes on which her sets were used.

Wendy gave the vote of thanks for this amazing and extensive talk of the life and career of an extremely talented lady.

The next guild meeting is on October 21 with a quiz, bingo and other entertainment.

All meetings are held at Wordsley Green Community Centre, third Monday every month at 10am. New members and visitors are made very welcome.
