A KINGSWINFORD man is in a stable condition after he was hit by a lorry on the A449 Kidderminster Road, Prestwood, yesterday (Thursday).

The 58-year-old pedestrian suffered head, leg and shoulder injuries when he was struck by the HGV, which was travelling northbound at around 4.30pm.

The air ambulance attended along with first responders but the man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, by land ambulance.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and his condition is described as stable.

The lorry driver, a 31-year-old man from Birmingham, was treated for shock at the scene.

Police closed the road for approximately three hours while the man was treated and a full investigation of the scene took place, leading to congestion on surrounding routes into Wordsley, Stourton and Wollaston.

Sergeant Matt Walker, of South Staffordshire Local Policing Unit, thanked motorists for their patience and is appealing for any witnesses who were not spoken to at the scene to contact him by calling 101 and quoting incident number 517 of October 24.
