ART that depicts familiar Black Country scenes is on display at Wordsley's Red House Glass Cone.

The Brierley Hill Society of Artists is holding its annual exhibition, featuring a range of watercolours, oils, pastels, acrylics and lithographs.

Many of the pictures have a local flavour with pieces including ‘Arley Station,’ ‘Bridgnorth’ and ‘A View over the Malvern Hills'.

For the first time ever there is also a small children’s exhibition and the group hopes that this will grow as more younger members join the group.

During February half-term, the group will be providing simple children’s art activities to encourage youngsters to explore their artistic side.

Councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “The Brierley Hill Society of Artists are regular exhibitors at the cone and their pieces reflect their love of the Black Country with many local scenes featuring in the exhibition.

“The small display by younger members of the group is a lovely development and I hope that local youngsters head to the cone over half-term to try their hand at creating their very own work of art.”

All work displayed at the exhibition, which runs until March 8, is for sale.

Admission is free.
