TWO speeding motorists were zapped by Wordsley schoolchildren taking part in the Speed Watch initiative.
Youngsters from Ashwood Park Primary School armed themselves with speed guns on Tuesday (November 18) in an attempt to put the brakes on speeding drivers.
Councillor Derrick Hemingsley, who started the monthly scheme to address growing concerns about speeding near schools in his ward, joined the youngsters for the session, which took place between 10am and 11am.
Only a couple of drivers were caught exceeding the 30mph limit and will have a warning letter sent to them.
Cllr Hemingsley said: "This months Speed Watch was different to previous sessions as we invited some children from the Ashwood school, along with the headmaster to attend.
"The aim was to make the children aware of the dangers of speeding. It was successful we had many motorists slowing down and stopping to say they supported the idea."
