BRIERLEY Hill Society of Artists has opened its annual art show, this year featuring a range of pieces by 25 different artists.

The free exhibition is currently being held at Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone where it runs until March 22.

A range of media, including watercolours, oils, pastels and acrylics are on display, covering work such as local and county scenes, portraits, still life and life drawing.

Many of the pieces have a local flavour picturing scenes of the cone itself, Broadfield House Glass Museum, Dudley Castle and Harvington Hall, as well as from further afield, including paintings of Venice and Falaise in France.

This is the second year the group has also run a small children’s exhibition, providing simple children’s art activities throughout February half-term as part of the exhibition.

Dudley Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “The annual exhibition by the Brierley Hill Society of Artists at the Red House Glass Cone is always of a very high standard and it’s lovely to see local scenes featuring in the show.

“The children’s activities were very popular last year and I hope that youngsters visiting the cone drop by the exhibition and try their hand at a small piece of artwork as part of their day out.”

Most of the work on display, as well as unframed prints and framed items are for sale, with pieces starting at £20.

The Red House Glass Cone is open from 10am until 4pm every day.
