WORDSLEY Community Association members will be pulling out all the stops next week when they celebrate their 75th anniversary.

Formed in June 1940, the Association continues to thrive with over 650 members regularly using the facilities.

To mark the occasion, they will be opening their doors to the public from Monday June 8 until Friday June 12.

Chairman Janet Blakeway said: "We try to stage something for everyone. Our members range from four years to 94-years-old.

"All our activities are run by volunteers who contribute to a village community. We have some wonderful people involved which has helped to make us the biggest community group within the borough."

On Monday, visitors can take part in indoor bowls, laughter yoga, together with wags and walkies for dog owners.

Tuesday's programme offers ladies keep-fit, arts and crafts an OAP's luncheon club and a good companions group for the over-60s.

In the evening there are rainbows and brownie groups together with badminton.

Wednesday's programme provides more badminton, sugar craft and cake making, arts and crafts plus a 50s group in the afternoon, a lively ladies group and bridge club.

Thursday offers keep-fit and flower arranging while a history society meets in the evening.

Friday's programme includes a bridge club, short-mat bowls and badminton.

There are also other events taking place at the Richardson Hall and the Richardson Hall Cottage.

Janet added: "All the groups are open for people to experience some of the activities we have to offer."

There will also be a celebration tea to complete the week.
