A CAR has ended up on its roof after being involved in a collision on Wordsley High Street this morning (July 16).

The incident involved the coming together of a car and a van, with one male casualty – who was out of the car upon the emergency services arrival – undergoing precautionary checks.

West Midlands Fire Service received a call at 9.09am alerting them to the overturned vehicle which was blocking the junction of Kinver Street.

The fire service, which was called by West Midlands Ambulance Service, sent two fire engines to the scene from Brierley Hill station.

Neil Spencer, West Midlands Fire Service spokesman, said: “We received a call at 9.09am to High Street, Wordsley, from the fire service saying a car and van had been in a collision and the car had overturned.

“We sent two fire engines to the scene, but only one from Brierley Hill, with five firefighters on it, has been kept there.

“One male casualty got out of vehicle we arrived and he has received precautionary checks by the ambulance service.

“We are now in the process of making the vehicles safe.”

The junction is closed while the recovery work continues which has caused major tailbacks along the A491 and the surrounding roads.
