ACTIVITIES for all the family are continuing at three Dudley Council museum sites throughout August and the rest of the school holidays.

The wide range of Juniors at Museums (JAM) club events for the borough’s youngsters, are taking place at Broadfield House Glass Museum, The Red House Glass Cone and Dudley Museum and Art Gallery.

The JAM club events include free family trails - where children can hunt for letters and pictures around all three venues – which will be available every day during the holidays.

Broadfield House Glass Museum will be hosting bookable craft sessions with the chance to make a fused glass ice lolly key ring on Thursday August 27 at 12.30, 1.30 and 2.30 costing £4 per child, with booking required.

While at the Red House Glass Cone there will be more visitors from the past on Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23 as the Guild of the Blessed St Edmund host their free medieval re-enactment event.

The cone will also hold bookable holiday glass crafts school for those over the age of 8 on Monday August 24 – under the theme of nature – from 9.30am until 3.30pm costing £22.50 per child.

There is also an additional holiday school for young people aged over the age of 12 who are wishing to work towards their Bronze Arts Award. This runs from 10am until 3pm, Monday August 17 to Friday August 21. Participants need to book in advance and must attend every day.

There are also bookable crafts sessions on Thursday August 13, running at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm costing £4 per child, with the chance to make a fused glass sunflower sun catcher.

Youngsters can also attend a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) investigating glass session from 10.30am until 12.30pm on Saturday September 5. Suitable for ages eight plus it costs £5.60 and must be booked in advance.

Finally, there’s also a drop-in glass crafts session on Saturday September 5 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm with the chance to make a fused glass bag charm for £2.30.

Later this month the new free family film club returns to Dudley Museum and Art Gallery with a free family friendly film on Saturday August 29 at 1.30pm, suitable for ages five and up.

There’s also a discovers and explorers family day on Thursday August 20, taking place between 10.30am and 3.30pm, costing £2.30 per child.

Dudley Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for museums, said: “This is busiest programme of JAM activities we’ve ever had.

“There’s lots on offer for all ages and I’m sure that local children will enjoy taking part in the craft activities and family fun days on offer.”

Broadfield House Glass Museum is open between noon and 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and bank holidays. Dudley Museum is open between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday, but closed on bank holidays. Red House Glass Cone is open 10am until 4pm daily, including bank holidays. Admission to all sites is free.
