THE age of chivalry will return to Wordsley this weekend when medieval knights descend on the Red House Glass Cone.

Armour-clad Knights will patrol the site as it goes medieval on Saturday and Sunday (August 22 and 23) at a free family event.

Members of the Blessed Guild of St Edmund will be providing the soldiers who will demonstrate how knights used their weapons.

They will also answer questions on anything ranging from the code of chivalry, to the finer points of jousting and armour preparation, while noble women will be demonstrating domestic arts and crafts.

Visitors of all ages are also being invited to dress up as knights, kings, queens, princes and princesses, while fearless warriors can also have a go at using a replica trebuchet – a large medieval catapult.

The ever-popular free duck trail will also be run, so eagle-eyed hunters will need to search for plastic ducks around the site.

Dudley Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We hope that this popular event will capture the interest and imagination of visitors of all ages.

“This fun event is free and is just one of the activities the cone is hosting for families this summer.”

The free Red House Glass Cone is open from 10am to 4pm daily. For more information call 01384 812750 or visit www.redhousecone.co.uk
