WORDSLEY councillors, residents and police support officers were out in force again this week for their monthly Speed Watch patrol.

This month the group were using their speed gun to measure the hurtling motorists outside the Crestwood School, in Bromley Lane.

The group recorded nine drivers racing over 35mph, with the highest recorded speed coming in at 37mph.

Ward councillor Derrick Hemingsley, organiser of the group, said: “Our focus over the next few months is Bromley Lane, and I was horrified that motorists were speeding right outside the Crestwood School gates.

“I am determined that this road will become a safe roads for our children and elderly.

“Community and safety is my top priority as councillor and I will not except any excuses from Dudley Council officers that money would be an issue.

“I will await the report they are producing for early November.”
