Eventually she studied Illustration at Goldsmith’s College and opened her first boutique in the King’s Road and named it ‘Bazaar’.

It was in her bedsit that Mary began making clothes for sale buying the materials from Harrods. She opened her second boutique in 1961 followed by another in Carnaby Street.

Mary progressed then to lingerie, patterned stocking and tights, perfume, make-up, with cosmetics for men as well as ladies, and accessories to compliment her clothes In 1966 she was awarded the O. B. E., and in 1967 was married to Alexander Plunkett-Green. Mary Quant sold her name and logo in the year 2000. During her talk Ruth showed Quant designed clothes and samples of many items of other fashioned accessories.

The vote of thanks was given by Liz Hubbard.
