A WEEKEND of regal celebrations to coincide with the Queen’s record-breaking reign is set to be held at Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone.

The event, taking place this Saturday (May 14) from 10am until 4pm, features a number of free and paid-for activities.

Among the activities will be vintage vehicles on display in the main forecourt of the cone where a group of 1920’s dancers will be performing a Charleston. There will also be glassmaking demonstrations with artist Tim Boswell, who will be making items in red white and blue.

As well as that, mini guided tours of the cone, a display of vintage glass in the cone’s map room and JAM club activities for children, including the chance to make crowns and castles will also feature.

But throughout the day, the cone’s studio artists will get into the swing of things with a range of paid-for royalty inspired workshops.

These include wire work and beading workshops with Teresa Mattens of Studio 2, Tania Holland of Studio 3 will be making badges from old postage stamps and Beverley Bernhard Bridges from Studio 5 will be running silk greeting cards workshops and charges apply.

Studio 7 Glass Quarter Designs will be making spin pictures outside, in Studio 8 Saz’s Ceramics will be running union jack painting sessions with the chance to paint and decorate pottery in red, white and blue including crown plaques, while Chris Cooke from Studio 15 will be hosting a life-size Beefeater cut-out where people can pose for a selfie.
