ONE of Stourbridge’s top tourist attraction will be turning back the clock to the 1960s during a themed weekend of fun.

Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone will be hosting the special weekend event on Saturday (August 27) and Sunday (August 28).

It will include glass making demonstrations, 1960s music courtesy of a live broadcast from Black Country Radio and some of the classic cars from the decade.

There will also be Wolverhampton Wanderers memorabilia, a 1960s history display provided by staff from the Archives, a dress up and games area for families and glass exhibitions.

People can also tour the craft studios used by the artists based at the cone.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for tourism, said: “The Red House Glass Cone is one of our premier tourist attractions and has lots of events going on throughout the year.

“I hope people will take the opportunity to come along to this special 1960s themed event and see some of the history behind our proud glass making heritage and have fun making crafts.”

Admission to the event, which runs from 10am until 4pm, is free, but charges will apply for craft sessions.
