Wordsley Gardening Club

The November meeting of the club held at Wordsley Green Community Centre on the 9th with 21 members attending. The speaker for the evening was Adam Greathead, Head Gardener for John Massey’s garden at Ashwood Nurseries, and his talk “Duck Pools (which is the name of his house) – a garden divided” was most beautifully illustrated with slides of different areas absolutely packed with plants both rare and ordinary. Everyone present enjoyed meeting Adam and listening to his presentation.

During the interval refreshments were served thanks to Mary and Larry, and the raffle drawn.

In the business part of the evening the distribution of the Harvest Sale proceeds was discussed which resulted in the decision to give £140 to the Community Centre and £70 to The White House Cancer Support Group, Dudley.

The next meeting will be the AGM on January 11 at 7.30pm at the Community Centre when all existing committee members will step down. It is hoped that there will be enough interested people to help keep this Gardening Club afloat as it would be a great loss after being in existence for more than 70 years.
