A DUDLEY councillor is gearing up to climb the highest peak in Wales this Saturday (May 6) to raise cash for charity.

Conservative councillor for Wordsley, Matt Rogers, will be scaling Mount Snowdon together with members of staff from Faccenda Foods in Telford who set up a walking group last November.

The 34-year-old tree surgeon/politician, who has friends at the firm, told the News said: "This challenge is a great way to join others and raise money for a fantastic charity. It'll be the first big mountain I've climbed. We are hoping for some good weather."

Money raised will go to the Make a Wish foundation which aims to grant the wishes of children and young people aged three to 17 who are living with life-threatening illnesses.
