WORDSLEY ‘M’ TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD

The June meeting was opened by Chairman of the day Wendy Lloyd who welcomed members and visitors attending. Minutes of the May meeting, prepared by secretary, Liz Moseley, was signed and the treasurers report was available for perusal.

The Federation Report included the Annual Lunch at the Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill 7th August £21, when friends can be invited and the speaker will be Sue Hickman whose talk is entitled ‘Across the Andes on Horseback’ - payment for this at our July meeting. On the 11th October a day of ‘Autumn Celebrations’ has been organised starting at 10.30am, at Wollaston Village Hall, with a talk by Max Keen an excellent speaker and presenter followed by a fish and chip lunch and concludes with Ms. Alison Snowdon giving valuations on items brought in by members - a very good day at £10. An Arts and Crafts day for card making is on 1st of November at Norton Community Association.

Guild Lunch Club. The next Guild lunch outing is on Monday 3rd July at The Lawnswood, Wordsley 12 for 12.30pm. The Christmas meal will be at The Lodge, Dudley on December 4th, £5 deposits were paid.

Wordsley Community Centre raffle - We have donated a garden centre voucher and paid into Centre funds for members raffle tickets

Wendy then introduced our speakers ‘The Sisters Two’, Jess and Jo, who exhibited and gave a very entertaining and informative talk about Vintage and Retro Collectibles. Liz Hubbard gave the vote of thanks. The raffle was then drawn.

Rosemary Skidmore gave details of a Centre group outing to National Trust’s Hanbury Hall on July 5 with a talk, tour of the Hall and gardens also a good restaurant.

Tea or coffee and biscuits were then served.

The next Guild meeting is on July 1710am when Kath Reynolds will give a talk entitled ‘Goose Grease and Brown Paper’. Cupboard remedies before the inauguration of the National Health Service. Kath reveals old medicinal recipes – perhaps even more!

Visitors are very welcome £3 including refreshments.
