A 34-year-old man from a farm in Hallow has suffered serious back injuries after falling into a pond this morning.

Tim Goldsmith, of Heath Farm, Moseley Road, Hallow, fell into the pond on his family's farm at around 8am this morning.

It is believed he was trying to rescue a cat at the time on the incident.

A number of emergency services were called to the site to assist in his rescue, including fire and rescue boats, ambulances, at least one fire engine and police cars.

He was rescued after around 30 minutes in the pond after falling from a ladder in the foggy weather conditions of this morning.

His father, Les Goldsmith, said at around 9am this morning that they were waiting to see where he was going to be taken.

"The accident happened on the farm," he said. "My son has fallen off a ladder and he has gone into the pond.

"They are assisting him now and deciding where to take him. He will probably go to Worcester or maybe straight to the QE, but they can't land an air helicopter because of the conditions.

"We haven't found out what he was doing yet.

"He is in a lot of pain and they had to float him across the pond. He has very serious back injuries.

"The pond is about a quarter of an acre in size.

"We are not very good at the moment but we don't panic, we will see what happens and go from there.

"My wife, Dorothy, and I are off to where ever he is going."
