RAILWAY cops have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with the theft of number plates which were stolen from a car parked at Cradley Heath train station.

British Transport Police are trying to identify the man pictured as they believe he may have key information about the incident which saw both front and rear vehicle registration plates stolen from a grey Jaguar XJ car parked in the railway station car park on Monday December 1.

PC Rob Collins, investigating officer, said: “This is an unusual crime and my concern is that someone may be using the plate illegally on another vehicle. The registration number is LS02 WVJ.

“We are conducting local enquiries in an attempt to trace the missing plates, but I would appeal to anyone who may have seen them or have any information that may help us with our enquiries, to contact police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police in confidence on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, or text information to 61016, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In all calls, people are asked to quote incident reference MSUB/B8 of 19/12/2014.
