A BROMSGROVE council committee is recommending a possible boundary change goes ahead.

Last June the Advertiser reported Hagley Residents Action Group petitioned more than 400 households in west Hagley that are currently represented by Clent Parish Council, with a view to local governance being transferred to Hagley Parish Council.

After a review was agreed at a full meeting of Bromsgrove District Council last year, a consultation with the 400 residents concerned, was launched.

The options proposed included amalgamating Hagley and Clent parish councils, make no changes or transfer certain areas from Clent to Hagley.

A ballot was taken and 1,315 valid votes were cast by eligible voters, on a turnout of 42.5 per cent.

The majority, 992 votes or 75.4 per cent, was for the option of these households being transferred between the parish councils.

At a meeting on Thursday, (March 26), committee members decided to adopt this option as the authority's draft recommendation.

This recommendation will now be published and publicised, going out to a further consultation of residents from Wednesday, April 1, until June 30.
