DUDLEY promises to be the centre of the nation’s attention on polling day with UKIP seeking a major Labour scalp.

The Dudley North constituency was won in 2010 by Labour’s Ian Austin who took 38.7 per cent of the vote to gain a majority of just 649.

Labour came second with 37 per cent, the Lib Dems were third with 10.5 per cent and UKIP fourth with 8.5 per cent. Since the last general election UKIP appear to have gained ground in the region and now have the seat among their top five targets.

Dudley South was a Tory gain last time around, Chris Kelly, who is not standing for re-election, won with 43.1 per cent which gave him a majority of 3,856. Labour gained 33 per cent, the Lib Dems collected 15.7 per cent and UKIP scooped 8.2 per cent.
