DIY store staff in Worcester will be launching their new partnership with cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support with a grand garden raffle on Friday (April 3).

The ‘Go Mad, Go Green, Go Macmillan’ event at Homebase in Blackpole, Worcester, will see customers have the opportunity to win a Qualcast 1000w mower, Qualcast trowel and hand fork, watering can and garden gloves.

Tickets will be £1 each and all proceeds will go directly to Macmillan.

The charity was selected by Homebase colleagues across the UK to be their new partner following a vote, with the money raised in the first year of partnership funding vital hours of Macmillan nursing care, to help ensure no one faces cancer alone.

Chris Cullinan, store manager for Homebase Worcester, said: "We are all absolutely delighted to be launching a new partnership with Macmillan. They provide such wonderful services to people living with cancer in our community and we hope the people of Worcester will come and support our launch event.

"One nursing hour costs £27 so we’re hoping that we can raise lots of money to get the partnership off to a great start."

Catrin Hale, senior partnership manager for Macmillan Cancer Support added: "I’d like to wish everyone at Homebase in Worcester huge good luck for your first day of fundraising for Macmillan."

Further plans include support of Macmillan’s national fundraising events Night In and World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, as well as bespoke fundraising activity linked to key trading periods for the business.
