A KINGSWINFORD florist clinched a top title at the Chelsea Flower Show for the second time after putting on a blooming brilliant display.

Laura Leong, who works part-time at The Flower Fairie in Gornal, scooped a gold medal and the RHS Florist of the Year award at the prestigious event.

The 43-year-old, who lives in Dingle Road, first received the accolade in 2013 but despite her previous success, she "didn't expect to win".

She had seven weeks to create floral fantasy tree inspired by the Tulgey woods in Alice and Wonderland before presenting it to show judges on May 17.

Explaining why she thought her entry stood out, Mrs Leong, who has worked in the industry for 28 years, said: "I think it told the story well, it was weird and wonderful."

She said competing at the show is "something every florist dreams of" and her boss Bev Harris, who went with her on the day was "over the moon" with the result.
