A BLOOD cancer support charity is calling for volunteers to help with awareness initiatives at Tesco stores across the Black Country.

Leukaemia CARE has secured spots at Stourbridge, Dudley and Cradley Heath-based Tesco Extra stores to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

The charity is looking for up to six people to help carry out bucket collections at the stores on various dates throughout July.

It is first setting up in Cradley Heath, in Foxoak Street, on Friday July 17, before heading to Town Gate Retail Park, in Dudley, on July 24.

The charity will complete its awareness raising campaign in Stourbridge’s Crown lane store on July 31.

Michaela Camfield, community fundraising officer at Leukaemia CARE, said: “The efforts of the local community never cease to amaze me and this is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to get out and about and volunteer for a great cause.

“We are always looking for people to get involved and help raise the profile of the charity.”

The charity, which provides emotional support to patients, their families and friend affected by a blood cancer diagnosis, hopes getting volunteers out and about into local supermarkets will raise much-needed funds.
