A HEREFORD couple set to fly to Greece for cheaper fertility treatment say donations have increased since their plight was aired by the Hereford Times.

Kirsty and Kyle Morgan are unable to conceive naturally and saw their one chance of IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) on the NHS fail.

The would-be parents, who live off Holme Lacy Road in South Wye, say they will fly to Athens in September so Mrs Morgan can undergo two rounds of IVF for £7,000, the cost for just one cycle in the UK.

As reported in the Hereford Times a fortnight ago, they are busy fundraising in a bid to come up with the cash, and attend car boot sales around Herefordshire each week selling off donated items to raise money.

“I’ve had lots of people get in contact and others have been coming up to us at the car boot sales saying they have read about us,” said Mrs Morgan. “They’ve been really supportive.”

They have now raised more than £2,600, with more set to come from upcoming fundraising activities including a quiz night at Hereford’s Railway club from 7pm on June 12.

The couple have voiced their frustration over local policy which allows Herefordshire residents only one IVF cycle on the NHS, despite some neighbouring counties allowing more.

The form of IVF treatment they require is called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) which is more expensive than conventional IVF methods.
