PROLIFIC local author Terry Church will unveil his latest book entitled ‘57 Black Country Sportsmen’ at a special launch taking place this Saturday (August 1).
The event is being held at Wall Heath Community Centre, in Enville Road, starting at 11am when it's hoped many of the subjects featured in the book will attend the launch.
The book contains details of local sportsmen, some famous, some not so well known, but all of whom went onto make a big contribution to the local scene.
They range from households names such as Duncan Edwards, Ron Headley and Don Kenyon, to Shaun Perry, Paul Pridgeon and Lee Sharpe.
Each subject enjoys a two page narrative in addition to many photos.
Terry's previous book, entitled ‘The lost cricket and football grounds in the South of the Black Country’ exceeded all expectations and required no less than four reprints, such was the demand.
The 57 Black Country Sportsmen costs £8.95 and can be obtained from either Ashwood Nurseries or at www.wallheath.org.uk/books.
The first 70 purchasers will also receive a free copy of ‘A tribute to Duncan Edwards’ which is a booklet produced by Dudley Council.
