HUNDREDS of Bromsgrove residents enjoyed successful family fun days held in the town in August.

Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) organised the fun days that were held at King George playing fields in Sidemoor on August 5, and at Lyttleton Avenue Park in Charford on August 26.

The fun days are organised to bring the community together and in the process raise money for a local Aspergers and Autism group.

Visitors took part in fun activities including a bouncy castle and slide, donkey and pony rides, colour hair spraying, nail and face painting, glitter tattoos, beat the goalie competition, tombola, hook a duck and food and ice cream stalls.

Firefighters attended and brought along emergency vehicles for children to sit in, while Bromsgrove Library offered free story times.

Stalls were run at the fun day by BDHT staff and other organisations including the Blue Cross and the NHS.

Overall £800 was raised for the social group which meets at Starlight Café and Community Centre.

Ashlea Green, BDHT's sheltered living manager, said: "We had two fantastic days with great turnouts and lots of support from local businesses who donated products and gift vouchers to sell and offer as raffle prizes. We really appreciate everyone getting involved and coming together to make two truly successful days for local families.

"The total raised for our social group is such a fantastic feat and one we couldn’t have done without everyone’s involvement. Thank you to everyone involved."
