BRITISH fashion icon Zandra Rhodes will be making a guest appearance at this year's Fibreworks Festival, in Chipping Norton.

The event will bring more than a splash of colour to Middle Row on May 28 with stalls, a pop-up tea room, vintage clothing and music courtesy of Oxfam. There will also be spinners and Wensleydale sheep.

Stalls will showcase the talents of several local designers and makes, including tailor Jenny Evans, doll maker Esther Wildman, HeyJay hand-dyed yarns, lamp-maker Hannah Bailey and Belinda Moore, maker of beautiful boxes.

Lesley Wildman, co-owner of The Fibreworks, said: “It’s a great privilege to welcome Zandra Rhodes to our annual Festival. Her dramatic, glamorous and exotic designs have been making waves in the fashion world for over 40 years. In addition to the talk, we’re planning an exhibition of her work in our studio which we hope everyone will get a chance to visit.”

Fibreworks tutor Kerry Forkner will be demonstrating some of her work with Zandra Rhodes' fabrics and introducing her new programme of Zandra-inspired projects and workshops.

In the studio above The Fibreworks shop there will be an exhibition of Zandra's own designs, sketches, fabrics and garments, displayed alongside the work of local milliner Louise Pocock.

From 1pm to 3pm Zandra Rhodes will deliver a talk at Chipping Norton Theatre about her life and career at the forefront of British fashion. This will be followed by a Q&A session and then a book signing in the Theatre bar. Tickets are on sale direct from the Theatre box office at www.chippingnortontheatre.com
