WORCESTER is set to be warmer than the Balearic holiday island of Ibiza this weekend.

The mercury is set to rise above 20C on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the weather finally feeling more like spring.

While Ibiza hovers at around 21C across the three days, Worcester will enjoy temperatures between 22C and 24C.

It will be a much needed weekend of warm weather after the Bank Holiday weekend washout and the previous week's mixture of hail, rain, sunny intervals and even a few snowflakes.

The rise in temperature is because warmer air will be heading toward the UK.

While it could be a chance to finally dust off the barbecue there may be a reason to hold off buying sausages and burgers - the warmer weather will be bringing with it thundery showers.

Tomorrow (Friday) should stay dry all day but will mostly be cloudy with temperatures reaching 22C.

There are thunderstorms predicted for Saturday with an 80 per cent chance of rain.

Temperatures, though, will reach 23C.

It will be hotter still on Sunday - albeit by 1C - with the mercury hitting about 24C.

Scattered thunderstorms are predicted, however, with a 60 per cent chance of rain.
