A PERFORMANCE of Elgar's The Kingdom in the city where it was written has raised almost £7,000 for Christian Aid.

Ledbury and Bromyard Choral Societies and Hereford Cathedral School Senior Chamber Choir came together to perform at a concert in Hereford Cathedral with an audience of 400 people.

The concert, which had a chorus of 140, a 63-strong orchestra and four soloists, raised £6,861.

The performance celebrated the 110th anniversary of The Kingdom.

This event is one of several fundraisers that are contributing to Christian Aid Week, an annual fundraising initiative which raises money for Christian Aid’s global development projects. This year’s focus is on Bangladesh.
