A GOLF day was held at a Worcester school as it aims to establish itself as a golfing prep school.

RGS The Grange held the first PTA family golf day in partnership with Gaudet Luce Golf Club

The school has a partnership with Russell Adams, the teaching professional at the Russell Adams’ Coaching Academy based at Gaudet Luce, who coaches County Juniors.

Each week he sets up a driving range and games at The Grange to coach golfers of all abilities and to encourage juniors into the game.

At the golf day, 57 golfers played, attending coaching taster sessions with Mr Adams.

There were also 20 teams playing a game of Texas Scramble on the par three, nine hole course, skills games on the range and a putting competition for charity.

Although the teachers walked away with first prize for the Texas Scramble competition, up and coming juniors Jess Dancox, Daniel Foster, Matthew Griffiths and Josh Griffiths – known as the Cornwall kids - were only four points behind them.

The day raised funds for the school and also donated £80 for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity sponsored by the Golf Club.
