A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to a major trauma centre following crash in Netherton.

The smash happened on Saltwells Road, near the junction with Bush Road, at 7.30am today (Thursday).

When paramedics arrived at the scene they found the 21-year-old biker had come off his bike after a collision with a car.

His helmet was found 50 metres down the road.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man was assessed by ambulance staff who found he had sustained multiple serious injuries with several fractures as well as numerous abrasions.

“He was given pain relief and oxygen to help stabilise his condition whilst his injuries were carefully immobilised.”

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further specialist treatment.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries but he did not require hospital treatment.
