THE best of business in a Cotswold town was celebrated at an annual awards.

High street cafe and bar Huxley's won the Business of the Year at the Campden Business Forum's fourth annual award.

Chipping Campden's town hall was packed for the ceremony on Tuesday evening.

Huxley's is a period cafe and bar which is open seven days a week and is renowned for its warm welcome, excellent wine list, coffee selection and antipasti menu.

Other awards were:

l. High Street Business of the Year: Cherry Press

l. New Business of the Year: Emily’s Bookshop

l. Business Student of the Year: Olivia Myatt

The awards were presented by Charlie Bennett, winner of last year’s award for Chipping Campden International Music Festival, who gave a fascinating account of his family’s trading experience in Campden over the last 150 years.

Chairman of the judges, Julian Ebbutt, said: “It is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the excellence that we enjoy in our businesses around the town during the year.

"Our award nominees and winners demonstrate the truly diverse nature of the mix of businesses in the town and we wish them all the very best of success for 2017.

"Again we saw an excellent standard of entries from the student entrepreneurs of the school, demonstrating a huge strength in the business and entrepreneurial spirit of our future business leaders.”

Campden Business Forum chairman, Nick West, outlined the exciting plans the forum has for 2017 saying "it may be a tough business environment all around but, with the right package, Campden continues to demonstrate it is still a great place to do business, and the business awards recognise this and the many excellent businesses in Campden."
