TWO Hereford Sixth Form students who paid tribute to the police officer killed in Wednesday’s terror attack by sharing a selfie taken with him last year hope to boost a fundraising bid in memory of the victims.

Will Robins and Tyler Chatterley- Russell visited London on a college trip last November and this week shared a photograph they took with PC Keith Palmer while he was on duty and stationed in front of Big Ben during the visit.

PC Palmer is one of four people killed in Wednesday's attack and it is understood that at least 50 people were injured. The attacker also died.

The teenagers, both 16, said they wanted to show PC Palmer’s character by sharing the photo and hope people will now donate to two online campaigns for the families of the victims of the attack.

Will said: “We didn’t want to come across as being disrespectful to PC Palmer and other victims of Wednesday’s incident. We just wanted to show, in the two minutes that we spoke with him, how approachable, fun, but still very professional, he was.”

The boys’ post has garnered huge media interest and the photo has been featured online by many national newspapers.

Tyler said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported the image and we hope its use can help support the fundraising efforts for all of the victims’ families.”

Peter Cooper, Principal Designate, at Hereford Sixth Form College added: “It is clearly distressing for Tyler and Will but our community, as always, will support and do all we can to promote the values of tolerance, forgiveness and understanding which are so vital at these times.”
