FIREFIGHTERS tackled a series of fires in Worcester, responded to a three car crash on the M5 near Droitwich and rescued some ducklings trapped in a drain during a busy Saturday.

A three car crash happened between junction 5 and 4a of the northbound M5 at around 4pm on Saturday. A crew from Droitwich made the vehicles safe while the casualties received a precautionary check by the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Yesterday crews from Worcester and Droitwich tackled a large rubbish fire in Offerton Lane, Warndon, Worcester after receiving a call at 4.45pm.

Another rubbish fire which also involved vegetation was put out on Gorse Hill in Worcester following a 999 call at 4.19pm.

Later that evening crews extinguished a sofa fire at the rear of Jubilee Drive in Kidderminster following a call at 5.58pm. A crew from Kidderminster was successful in putting out a railway embankment fire at Stourport Road, Bewdley after a call came in at 4.47pm.

Earlier on the day firefighters attended a two car crash on the A449 at Hadley where a female was medically trapped but was rescued from the vehicle following the incident at around 1.21pm. Meanwhile a garden fire raged out of control at Yew Tree Avenue, Belbroughton on Saturday morning.

The call was received at 11.57am. The blaze was extinguished with a hose and advice was given to the owners.

Two ducklings were rescued from a drain in Hereford following a call at 11.04am.

Crews from Stourport and Bromyard had to cut a casualty from a car following a two car crash in Upper Sapey at 11.04am.
