IN April 1983, Ludlow School secretary Brenda Hughes stepped down after 19 years in the post. School pupils go together to buy a set of matching cases and a plant to mark her farewell and these were presented by head boy and girl Christopher Cant and Wendy James.
Headmaster David Bywater presented a radio-cassette from school staff while Gordon Treacy presented a set of liqueur glasses from the PTA, while Phyllis Edwards presented a bouquet and a cake. During her time at the school, Mrs Hughes saw the school roll rise from 3-400 to more than 1,000.
