'SCHOOLGIRL bullies' are facing disciplinary action, after a video of a former student being attacked in Rubery went viral.

The footage, which appears to show a teenage girl being punched in the head, pushed into a bush and pulled by her hair, has been shared more than 6,000 times since being posted on Facebook.

The victim attended Waseley Hills High School until November 2016, but is now home-schooled by her mum, who says the bullying has been relentless for almost two years.

"My daughter has been pushed around and pushed over in school, punched in the face outside of the school gates, followed home and teased all the way home and told to kill herself numerous times," the mum said.

"I complained to the school but then the girls called her a 'grass' and threatened to kill her. I've had to take her out of school and even now it's carried on on social media and in the street.

"She's become so withdrawn and she's now started pulling out her hair and her eyebrows because she's so anxious and stressed."

The video footage, which was taken at around 3pm on Saturday (May 20), was shown to the school headteacher on Monday, who has since taken disciplinary action against the girls involved.

Headteacher Alan Roll said: "We were made aware of a video depicting an assault that happened last weekend on a former student of the school. We are equally appalled that this should happen in our community and therefore where our students have been involved this has been investigated an swift action taken against the perpetrators.”

The girls have been given fixed-term exclusions and discussions will be held with their parents to determine the next steps.
