AN award has been launched to publicise the work done by young people in the community.

Young Good Citizens of 2017 has been launched for this year by West Mercia Police as part of the aim to deliver a positive message about young people.

The police would like to hear from people aged 18 or under who have displayed spirit and are making a real difference and have overcome challenges in their own lives.

The police are inviting nominations from schools, youth leaders, and members of the public.

All nominees meeting the criteria will receive a Young Good Citizen Certificate from their Safer Neighbourhood Police Team.

Ten of these (two from each policing area) along with the person that proposed them, will be invited to a final awards ceremony at Police HQ attended by chief officers and high sheriffs.
