STAFF from Malvern care homes run by the charity Friends of the Elderly visited Worcester to meet shoppers and tourists.

The aim of the event was to tell people about

the care options that the charity offers older people and about the opportunities for about working or volunteering with Friends of the Elderly, which runs Davenham, Bradbury Court and Perrins House.

James Wadlow, Ellie Bannister and Lisa Mitton ran a promotional stand at Angel Place all day.

It proved such a success, in the summery sunshine, that they had to get extra supplies of promotional material, such as recruitment flyers and flyers advertising the three homes’ upcoming summer fete on Saturday, June 10.

Mr Wadlow said: “I really enjoy these events, which give people a true picture of what a care home is, and can be, particularly if they then come and visit us.”

This initiative was part of Friends of the Elderly’s current Be A Star information and recruitment campaign.

Davenham, Bradbury Court and Perrins House are residential care homes in picturesque and historic settings off Graham Road and Moorlands Road.

They offer older people continuity of care as their needs develop and change, including specialist nursing and dementia-related care.

The care homes’ integrated staff teams are dedicated to ensuring that residents have as much independence and freedom and choice as possible, making sure the activities they want are available to them.

Jessica Stone, head of business development for Friends of the Elderly, said: “We are dedicated to putting all our care homes at the heart of their communities, and to fostering great relationships within them.

“We currently have a number of health care roles across our care homes, for which we are keen to recruit people with a passion for, interest in and commitment to supporting and caring for older people.”

The fete next Saturday includes the chance to inspect the homes’ four-acre gardens which include rare trees and plants.

Among the attractions will be a fire engine from the Malvern fire station. There will also be a bouncy castle, pony rides, Morgan sports cars, a silent auction, plus lots of craft, plants, books, tombola and other stalls.
