A HEARTBROKEN mother is calling on the kind-hearted people of Stourbridge to help raise £3,000 for her daughter’s funeral.

Janine Leaf passed away on August 1 at the age of 35, and now her family and friends want to give her the best send-off possible.

Her mother Bev Powell – whose son Liam was found dead in 2015 – said Janine, who has six children, has left a big whole in all of the family’s lives.

“She was a lovely, bubbly person,” Bev said. “She was loved by many people and had so many friends.

“She was the life and soul of a party and will be such a big miss to us all.”

Janine’s funeral will take place at 2.50pm on Friday (September 1) at Stourbridge Crematorium, with a wake to follow at the Gigmill pub, in South Road.

To help raise money for the funeral, Bev’s friend Kerry Whiteman has organised a table top sale which will now take place at Beech Tree Miners club, in Wassell Road, Wollescote.

Kerry said: “I have known Bev a long time, probably about 20 years or so, and have known Janine since she was young.

“When I heard about what had happened we were devastated for Bev. She lost her son Liam two-and-a-half years ago, and now to lose Janine – both her two children – is terrible.

“I wanted to do anything I could to help her.

“With everything she has been through, I wanted to be there for her and give her my support, so I thought I would help by trying to raise money for the funeral – take some of the weight from her.

“I asked Bev if she would mind me doing this, especially as I was putting posters up with Janine’s picture on them, but she was so grateful for my help and support.”

People can also donate Janine’s funeral fund online at www.gofundme.com/raising-money-for-janine-leaf.

The fundraising table top event will take place from a new time of 11am until 4pm on Sunday, September 10, featuring a prize tombola and a tea, coffee and cakes sale.
