PARTYGOERS are being urged to keep an eye on their drinks following an alleged spate of drink spikings at a popular Worcester nightclub.

The warning comes after reports on social media that five girls were spiked in Tramps Nightclub in Angel Place on Saturday night.

West Mercia Police said they have not received any reports of drink spikings but urge people who think they may be a victim to report their suspicions to police.

Inspector Tanya Beckett of Worcester Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We are aware of comments on social media relating to an allegation of drinks being spiked in Worcester, but police have not received any reports at this time.

"While reports of drink spiking in our area are relatively uncommon, I strongly urge people to report any suspicions to police at the earliest opportunity so that thorough investigations can take place to establish if any offences have taken place.

"Any allegation of drinks spiking is something we take very seriously and there are a number of steps people can take to protect themselves.

"Never leave your drink unattended and don’t accept a drink from someone you don’t know. It’s also a good idea to let someone know where you are and what time you expect to be home.

"If your drink smells or tastes strange or if you feel drowsy or confused, stop drinking and seek help from someone you trust such as a friend or member of staff.

"If you think your drink has been spiked, report it to police as soon as you can so that blood and urine samples can be taken."

Tramps Nightclub general manager Dean Hill said: "We are unaware that anyone had their drink spiked on Saturday. "We take things like this very seriously. We ask the people involved to get in touch with us.

"Drinks left unattended are removed and our bar staff and security keep an eye out for people loitering by unattended drinks.

He added: "I have not heard about drink spiking in Worcester for years."
