HOMEBUILDERS behind a new Redditch housing development have donated more than £44,000 to Acorns Children's Hospice.

Barratt's Homes, which is selling houses at Malvern View in Church Road, raised the cash at a sportsman's dinner and charity golf day hosted by former England footballer Kevin Keegan at Redditch Golf Club

Adrian Farr, managing director of Barratt Homes, said: "We were delighted to be able to raise this amount for the children in the care of Acorns Children’s Hospice through our golf day and sportsman’s dinner, and hope it goes towards helping many local children and their families in need of Acorns’ services.

“It’s an important cause which we are glad we could help. It’s our duty as responsible homebuilders to help build communities and not just new homes.”

The funds will support the care and well-being of life-limited babies, children and young people across the Midlands.

Amanda Smallman, senior manager at the Wythall-based hospice, said: "We are so happy to receive this significant donation.

"At Acorns, we rely on fundraising and donations from organisations like Barratt Homes for the majority of the income needed to provide our services."
