A CHUNK of a man's nose was bitten off in a brawl outside a city church during a dinner for homeless people.

A witness reported the horrific sight in the fight between homeless diners at Worcester Street Cafe.

Three men have been released on bail after the fight at the cafe at Worcester Baptist Church, in Sansome Walk.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance after being treated at the scene at about 7.15pm on Tuesday. It is believed he is no longer in hospital.

Now the future of the street cafe is in doubt.

Reverend Darren Smith, of the baptist church, said: "I can confirm the fight was between a number of individuals around the church premises which was distressing for all who witnessed it."

The cafe, which has run for the last month, is run by volunteers who serve hot meals to homeless people, Monday to Thursdays in the church foyer.

Three men, aged 44, 26 and 33 years old, all from Worcester, were arrested on suspicion of assault (GBH), and have been released on bail.

Worcester Street Cafe refused to comment.

Anyone who saw the incident should contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 0608s of 17 April 2018.
