FIVE people, including a young child, have been involved in a crash between a car and a van on the Warwick Highway in Redditch.

Police, fire crews and the ambulance service all attended the scene of the crash at around 8.11am this morning (Thursday, July 5).

Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A man in his 40s, the driver of one vehicle, was treated by ambulance staff for facial and arm injuries before being taken by land ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital for further checks.

"Three further patients received treatment on scene one of which was a young child who, upon assessment, suffered no apparent injuries but was taken by land ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further checks due to the nature of the collision.

"Ambulance staff also assessed and conveyed a third patient to the Alexandra Hospital for further checks.

"The fourth patient was discharged on scene."

Fire crews from Redditch and Bromsgrove attended the scene to make the vehicles safe.
