A DOG lover is appealing for witnesses after the owner of three huskies which allegedly attacked her miniature sausage dog and ran over her stepfather's foot fled the scene.

Lucinda Nicholl's dog Milo was out with her stepfather Dave Lewis on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 3 at the Brook Retail Park in Hereford.

While in Lidl car park at around 3.15pm, three huskies, who were not on a lead, jumped out of the open sliding doors of a parked white van.

Dave initially thought the dogs were coming for him but they launched themselves at Milo, who was on an extendable lead.

According to Lucinda and Dave, the dogs threw Milo up in the air and 'ripped him to shreds'.

The owner of the dogs then grabbed the huskies and put them in the van.

She then reversed into Dave as she pulled out of the parking space, running over his foot in the process.

Milo was attended at the scene by a vet from the nearby Pets at Home and was later taken to a vet surgery.

Lucinda said: “It was touch and go whether he was going to survive.”

Milo is now back at home but has suffered from heavy bleeding, is wearing a cone and has become nervous since the attack.

One of his wounds is so long that it runs from shoulder to shoulder.

Lucinda's stepfather has also suffered a bruised foot and has bite marks on his hand.

Lucinda paid tribute to her stepfather for saving Milo during the attack and said: "If it wasn’t for him Milo would be dead now."

She is encouraging anyone who may have any information or who may know the owner of the dogs to contact the police and to quote incident number 468s 030718.

Lucinda added: "Until she gets caught the bigger the chance it is going to happen again.”
