AN opportunity for visitors to ‘share that joy of being isolated and surrounded by views of our world that few people experience’ can now be enjoyed at the Photo Space in Ludlow.

This comes courtesy of the current exhibition ‘Where I Stand’ featuring the images of inspiring Shropshire landscape photographer Claire Carter.

The exhibition includes images from Shropshire, Snowdonia, Scotland, Norway and Iceland and numerous other destinations are now on display in the gallery at 4 Castle Square.

For Claire, who lives in Cleobury Mortimer, passion for landscape photography has evolved over the past 17 years, seeing her receive numerous awards awards for her efforts including the National Geographic Traveller River Category winner two years ago.

“Photography gives me the reason to visit strange places at strange times,” she said.

“It is my sanctuary and I unashamedly seek the romantic and beautiful.

“I have stood in places I would never have visited without the need to take a photograph. I have stood for hours in the dark, dawn and dusk and been overcome by the beauty I have seen’.

In addition to selling and publishing her work and writing articles for photography magazines, Claire provides photography tuition, workshops and travel tours through her business cARTerART

More than fine art images on archival paper feature in ‘Where I Stand,’ which is Claire’s first solo exhibition which is complimented with a slide show to music of the northern lights.

The Ludlow area is one of the best for photographers and people visit with their cameras from all over the country.

As well as the many historic buildings there are great opportunities for people that want to take photographs of the hills and areas of outstanding natural beauty.

There is also abundant wildlife with a wide selection of different birds including birds of prey such as Buzzards and Red Kites that give spectacular aerial displays that test the skills of photographers.

Regular exhibitions are held of work by local photographers in places like the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms and at the Bishops Castle Town Hall.
