BIRDS of prey are becoming an attraction for tourists in Shropshire.

Buzzards and Red Kites are now relatively familiar soaring above the hills.

A generation ago the Red Kite was rare and confined to isolated areas in Wales but is now often seen in south Shropshire where a feeding station is being made available at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms.

Peregrine Falcons are also believed to be preparing to nest again on the Clee Hills where they are under guard against illegal persecution. Last year two adult birds were killed on the hills.
