A WOMAN who was involved in a car crash in Catshill has paid thanks to the fantastic emergency services who came to her aid.

Sarah Haughey described a two-car collision on the B4091 Stourbridge Road at around 7am last Wednesday as the “most terrifying experience of my life”.

The 22-year-old had to be cut out of the car by fire crews, before paramedics kept her calm and took her to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

She spent 10 hours at the hospital after fracturing her vertebrate, and contacted the Advertiser to say thanks to those who came to her aid.

Ms Haughey, of Church Stone Close, Catshill, said: “It was the most terrifying experience of my life. I just remember screaming in the car as I did not know what would happen.

“I could not be more grateful to the NHS, the fire crews and the ambulance paramedics for their help. They were just so kind when I was so scared.

“They were absolutely brilliant in giving me morphine and gas and air and keeping me cheery. I feel very lucky to be alive and cannot thank our emergency services enough.”

Sarah has been signed off work from the British Pregnancy Advice Service in Stratford for three weeks while she recovers.

Her mum Faith, 57, added: “We just wanted to thank the paramedics and the fire service for all they have done for her.

“She was in quite a bit of distress but they kept her really calm.

“She will have to rest in bed for a bit and she cannot walk around because of the pressure on her spine.

“But the emergency services were just fantastic and our family can’t thank them enough.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a second man, who was in his 20s, was also taken to the Alexandra Hospital for chest pain.

Anybody who saw the collision can contact police on 101 quoting 0066-S-140218.
